Ask a Question

What can prevent the drive tripping on input phase fault?

Issue:
The drive does not trip when an input phase is removed.

Product Line:
Altivar Drives

Environment:
All models and serial numbers

Cause:
1.  Parameter IPL is set to no
Depending on the device type:
2.1  Input phase loss works by detecting the ripple in the dc bus. If the load is not high enough, it can't detect an input phase fault.
2.2  Input phase loss works with the input phase detection on the rectifier circuit (ATV61/71/600/900/MX eco/MX pro) if the rectifier is thyristor controlled (power approximately >22kW).
In this case only cause 1 is possible.

Resolution:
1. Set Parameter IPL to yes
2. Provide additional motor load.
