    CEO Leadership Award for Advancing women’s equality

    March 10, 2015: CEOs Leadership Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarter in NY
    Jean-Pascal Tricoire, CEO of Schneider Electric, was awarded one of the five coveted Awards for his demonstrated commitment and implementation of policies that advance and empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community. 
     
    Since 2013, each WEPs Annual Event has included the announcement of the WEPs CEO Leadership Awards, saluting five exceptional CEOs for championing gender equality and the 7 WEPs Principles, in particular Principle One, which     urges CEOs to lead by example. 
     
     
    The Women’s Empowerment Principles  event : the 10th of March N.Y. many businesses companies were present to promote Gender Equality in the interest to promote the business case for involving women at every level in the    society. Schneider Electric was awarded for supporting gender equality and the sustainable development. 
     
    At this occasion many political celebrities were there to support this event: 
     
    Hilary Clinton: "women and men who understand that gender equality is not just morally right, but is the smart thing to do are growing in number."
    Ban Ki Moon (United nations Secretary-General): "Now, it is clear that achieving gender equality will require the concerted efforts of all actors. (…) Removing the barriers that keep women and girls on the margins of economic, social, cultural and political life must be a top priority for all of us." 
     
    Twenty years ago, the business community was just beginning to understand the importance of including women at all levels and eliminating gender discrimination, according to Global Compact. 
     
    Today, this WEPs meeting held for the first time as an official side event of the 59th Commission on the Status of Women. 
     
    As advancing women in the workplace, marketplace and community require implementing a range of tailored strategies and actions to achieve concrete, sustainable programs with measurable impact. The WEPs CEO Leadership Awards, were Schneider Electric was recognized at the 1st place for Business Case For Action, are structured to reflect diverse avenues to reach those goals.
